Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - E-Assessment

Informing and Testing

The right to information refers to the modalities of carrying out the examination and the (personal) data collected in the process.

The right to information

Already at the beginning of the semester, students are to be informed about the type of examination and the associated procedures (incl. information on attempted cheating, non-attendance, failure, disadvantage compensation).

If the module final examination (MAP) is to be carried out as a digital examination (distance examination, supervised distance written, oral or practical examination, digital written examination in attendance), the students must always be informed about the following issues at the beginning of the event or within a reasonable period of time before the MAP (§ 107 a 12th amendment ZSP-HU):

  • Right of choice in the case of a remote supervision examination; the end of the period of the right of choice may not be before the time of the information (§ 96b par. 4, sentence 3)
  • Processing of their personal data (cf. also Art. 12 - 21 of the GDPR): type of data processed, purpose of processing, time limits for storage and deletion (recording and storage of the MAP is prohibited, § 96a, para. 2).
  • Technical requirements necessary to carry out the MAP, e.g. camera, microphone, software
  • Organisational conditions of the examination, e.g. supervision, location (e-examination centre), examination preparation, authentication

The right to try out

In the case of digital examinations, students should have the opportunity to try out the technical and room requirements necessary to be able to successfully complete the MAP (section 107a, paragraph 2). This includes above all the following prerequisites:

  • Login to the examination system (Prüfungsmoodle)
  • Enrolment in or finding the examination course
  • Admission requirements for the examination: declarations on health, autonomy, etc.
  • Examination task formats
  • Equipment of a PC workstation in the e-examination centre of the HU, in order to be able to bring along supplementary equipment such as headphones, if necessary.
  • For remote supervisory examinations in particular:
    • Method of authentication
    • Use of video conferencing software parallel to the examination (from the examination course or via browser)

Summary

Step 1: Beginning of the semester: announce the type of examination and the procedures for carrying it out.

Step 2: Before the end of the right of choice (the registration period): Explain the right of choice, technical requirements and the processing of personal data in the context of the examination and examination supervision.

Step 3: Have your prerequisites tested in good time before the examination date (at least 2 weeks).
